For the vast majority of our existence, mankind has had a direct relationship with the natural world, spending most of our time hunting, gathering, preparing, eating our food, relaxing, and getting around outdoors. That symbiotic relationship with nature not only nourished our bodies, but calmed our minds. It also had far ranging benefits such as improving eyesight, enhancing immune function, and improving patience (more on these in future posts).

Currently, the average American spends roughly 5% of their time outside. Modern life is wonderful in so many ways (it has allowed us to make NaturePlunge) but it has put us way out of sync with our real home, the great outdoors.

This blog, audio meditations (and, soon, a smartphone app) offer musings on the regulating impact that nature has on us as well as practical tools and meditations on how to strengthen that connection.

NaturePlunge is made by Kira Baum.

Guided by her love of the natural world, Kira has combined years of study in natural medicine (degrees in Biology and Naturopathic Medicine), a decade of teaching stress management classes as well as health sciences classes, together with training in hypnosis and meditation techniques, to bring together resources that will guide you into strengthening your connection with nature.
